The Gentleman’s Manor

When our client first moved into this 5,000-square-foot Victorian in the Fisher Hill Historic District, a leafy neighborhood in Brookline, MA. He was entering a new phase of life and the house he just acquired was a blank slate; the entire interior was painted white and furnished with rentals. We stepped in to bring vibrancy and comfort into the stately home, filled with beautiful architectural details.

Our client’s love of boating and nature were design cues for much of the project, from the Nantucket-inspired sunroom, to the sitting room centered with a driftwood table and adorned with original watercolors depicting a local park. We also had plenty of fun creating a rock’n’roll themed office with space for his guitar collection, and a vintage bar.

He loved the result so much that he brought us in to design his second home in Florida.

About the Area

Fisher Hill is a residential estate area dating back to the early 1800s. Originally designed as a convenient escape from city life, the area later added landscape design by Frederick Law Olmsted, who created Central Park in New York City, among many other important public spaces.
